“Yes, I am easily sent into the fight or flight response but I am naturally nervous.”
That was my understanding of how my body operated when placed in certain situations. From a very early memory I recall always having the same reaction, so ultimately, I led myself to believe that it was just that way and it would always be the same. Delving into holistic practices I came to find on my personal journey that my system was manipulated to respond the way it did, because of outside sources. Never being taught the difference I came to learn that my body could naturally be without the undercurrent of tension that was always there. I was so accustomed to the stress that my body produced that I didn’t even realize I was always in a fight or flight response. Down below is a list of 3 holistic options that I have found to be a great help in balancing my nervous system.
1. Hypnotherapy sessions
One of the first practices I was able to experience was Hypnotherapy. Guided into a deep state of the Theta wavelength I came to feel a tremendous difference from my regular every day. Hypnotherapy is a natural state that is achieved from activating the subconscious and allowing the conscious mind to take a break from its awareness. This wonderful practice that I am privileged to be able to provide to others, was the main source of helping me to understand my triggers, the tension and stress that was dominating my life even when I slept. No matter the amount of sleep I would get, there were never enough hours in the day for me to feel completely well rested. Reprogramming my subconscious gave me the control to be able to react better when under certain stressors.

2. Ashwagandha herbal supplement
A natural herb that has been used for centuries to help stabilize the system, this is a powerful herb that can bring the physical body to a much more relaxed state. Known for its incredible anti-anxiety and stress relieving effects, it has been proven to help with sleep. Allowing the body to regulate cortisol levels, it can help with cases of insomnia, bringing a better quality of sleep to anyone who takes it. Pairing it with hypnotherapy proved to be a life changing duo. Personally, taking a dropper from the tincture the night before gives me a profound sleep, leaving me feeling relaxed throughout the next day. It truly was a great helper especially since my A blood type has been found to produce higher levels of cortisol than other blood types.

3. Rhodiola herbal supplement
Proven to also significantly balance hormone levels, cortisol is significantly lowered, but with the added effects of anti-aging and boosting energy. This is an incredible energy booster that gives you that kick but without the crash afterwards. This was the second tincture that I added into my daily intake, as it has been known to energize you for the day’s events, but also keep your stress levels balanced. Personally, I came to find that even my irritation subsided or even completely dissipated, after incorporating this amazing herb into my daily supplements. Remember to always double check what form of tincture you decide to purchase, with the root or without it.
Each person is different on their journey but one thing can be agreed upon, cortisol can be harmful to not only our bodies, but our lifestyles as well. When left unmanaged it has been known to cause premature aging, activate diseases and even premature death. Focusing on the body and giving it these natural herbs to regulate stress can be a great help but pairing it with Hypnotherapy can help each person to regulate the triggers and programs that activate stress in their everyday life.
